This spring season is full of optimistic colors, the perfect antidote to winter blues and economic woes. From Lanvin’s bold new color palette to Calvin Klein’s brilliant blue origami sheath and Marc Jacobs eye-popping pink and orange playsuit, there’s a color to brighten your day.

Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 c. cocoa powder
1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking powder

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350F.

Grease and flour an 8″x8″ square pan. (Or spray with a baking spray that has flour in it.)

Melt 1/2 c. butter in a large sauce pan.

Remove the sauce pan from heat and stir in 1 c. white sugar, 2 eggs, and 1 tsp. vanilla extract.

Beat in 1/3 c. cocoa powder, 1/2 c. flour, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/4 tsp. baking powder. Mix well.

Spread the batter into the greased pan.

Bake for 25-35 minutes. Baking time will vary slightly by oven. Mine takes about 35 minutes.

When baking is complete, cool the brownies slightly in the pan, then cut into squares and transfer to a serving platter. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

Fall Winter 2021/2022 Fashion Trends

From classic coats and statement jackets, velvet dresses, animal prints, kitten heels, midi-length skirts and evening trousers, Fall 2021 sees a move towards timeless pieces that can be easily integrated into an existing wardrobe:

• A is for Amelia Earhart-inspired aviator jackets. Fashion is having an aeronautical moment with pre-1950’s-style flying jackets made from leather and shearling. Oversized collars bring the aviator jacket up- to-date; along with a trend for wearing it with everything, including delicate feminine dresses.

• B is for bags, from timeless

Dynasty-style bold shoulders, one-shoulder dresses, sculpted skirts, sequins, animal prints, plaids, leather jackets and sharp blazers will all continue to have their place this fall in commercial stores. There is also a move towards investment pieces amongst retailers, which give a nod rather than embrace, current runway trends.

Trend Predictions for Fall/Winter 2021

In Drapers, 9 May 2021, “Autumn Key Styles Identified by Doneger”, David Wolfe of the New York trend agency, The Doneger Group, predicts that fashion retailers, in a bid to raise revenue, will concentrate more on essential items, like the little black dress, textured leather jackets and wide trousers with pleating.

Some say that what you wear speaks volumes about you. I agree with them to some extent. It’s not what you wear really, but how you wear it. Here are a few fashion tips that I have followed and developed over the years.

1. Shoes- Think about it this way. Every part of your wardrobe tells a story. Your shoes can scream things about you. I am not going to tell you exactly what kind of shoes to wear but I can suggest a few pointers based off of what I have been successful with.
   You can’t go wrong with a nice pair of Puma’s. They are simple, comfortable, and look absolutely wonderful. If you go with a white color, be sure to wash them frequently. They tend to stain easily.
2. Jeans-I prefer Diesel, Express Men, or 7 For All Mankind. These designer jeans tend to be a bit pricey,

Fashion Week in New York City began February 11^th and runs through the 18^th. During fashion week top designers from around the world will showcase their Fall, collections. Fashion week got off to a sad start with the death of one of the world’s greatest designers, Alexander McQueen, but as they say in Hollywood the show must go on. Here are some of the trends that were popping up and events that occurred during fashion week.

Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief – One of the highlights of fashion week in London was the charity event hosted by famous model and renowned primadona, Naomi Campbell. This star studded event had top fashion models walking down the runway in an effort to raise money to help save the lives of mothers and babies in Haiti.
